The Charlotte Community of Mindfulness appreciates donations to cover expenses. There is no charge to participate, but a box is available for those who wish to support the Sangha financially through the practice of generosity, the Dana Paramita. Paramitas are practices to cultivate on the path of awakening. Dana is giving with “open heart, open arms, and an open mind” according to your ability.
Our Sangha expenses include:
- Materials to support our practice together, such as incense, lamp oil, candles, matches, meditations cushions and benches, and bells;
- Sangha Library materials: books, tapes, videos, chanting books;
- The Sangha webpage: www.charlottemindfulness.org;
- Sangha subscription to The Mindfulness Bell;
- Community outreach programs, such as Room in the Inn and Operation Sandwich;
- Retreat scholarship fund;
- Contributions to Myers Park Baptist Church, which has housed us since 1993;
- Monthly contributions to the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation www.tnhf.org;
- Publicity expenses for Days of Mindfulness and other events; and
- Cleaning supplies to keep our room fresh.
Your generosity supports our Sangha practice. When a Dharmacharya (ordained Dharma Teacher) gives a talk or leads an event, all dana collected that day is given to the teacher.
Please make checks payable to Charlotte Community of Mindfulness. The Sangha is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. If you would like to contribute, please place your donation in the Dana box in our room or mail it to:
