 The Practice of Walking Meditation

We can practice walking meditation anywhere, at any speed. Conscious breathing supports of practice of being present for every step. We know that with each step, we arrive in the present moment. In walking meditation, we let go of our thoughts and worries about the past or the future. We are simply present to enjoy each step and each breath.

During our gatherings, we practice slow walking meditation. Breathing in, we step with our left foot; breathing out, we step with our right foot. With each step, we experience the miracle of walking on the Earth.

Excerpt from A Guide to Walking Meditation
by Thich Nhat Hanh

Walking meditation can bring you joy and peace. Take short steps in complete relaxation; go slowly with a smile on your lips, with your heart open to an experience of peace. You can feel truly at ease with yourself. Your steps can be those of the healthiest, most secure person on Earth. All sorrows and worries can drop away while you are walking.

To have peace of mind, to attain self-liberation, learn to walk in this way. it is not difficult. You can do it. Anyone can do it who has some degree of mindfulness and a true intention to be happy.
